Daryl joined the CLHbid.com team in the role of Director of Sales in 2022. With deep roots in southern Manitoba, Daryl grew up on a dairy and grain farm south of the small village of Bruxelles. After graduating from high school, he followed his passion for farming and bought his first half-section at just 18 years old. Always looking for new and modern ways to run the farm, he was one of the first to zero till in the area and found new ways to save the soil. As a 4 th generation farmer, Daryl has seeded 42 crops in his lifetime and possesses a wealth of knowledge.

In 1986 Daryl and his wife Diane built a new yard in an open field; together their work load was heavy, but they were up for the challenge. For the next three years, they worked half of his dad’s dairy farm, ran 40-beef cows, and built a 50-sow farrow-to-finish hog barn. They then dopped the beef and dairy and increased the hog barn to 135-sows farrow-to-finish. Daryl and Diane raised breeding-stock gilts for Thames Bend highbred from Ontario and across southern Manitoba for 20 years; the barrows sold as market hogs or as weaning. The hog barn was shut down in 2012 due to the hog moratorium in Manitoba and they shifted their focus to grain farming. They increased the number of acres farmed from 360 acres in 1986 to 3,000 acres in Manitoba today, plus an additional 900 acres they purchased in Alberta. Five of the six Albertan quarters were purchased through CLHbid.com.

Daryl’s positive experience with buying land through CLHbid.com confirmed that this is the best way to purchase farm land and encouraged his career change. In Daryl’s words: CLHbid.com gives everyone a fair chance to purchase a piece of property, with the seller getting top dollar for their land. Presently, Daryl is also on the Board of Directors for the local Pembina Co-op. With two sons eager to farm and take over the decision making, Daryl had the opportunity to join the CLHbid.com team as a Director of Sales with a focus on the Manitoba market.

Daryl’s farming experience and agricultural background make him an excellent asset to the team. He enjoys talking to farm clients because they have so much in common and he always has great agricultural advice to share with farmers, whether they are buying or selling. In his free time, Daryl enjoys snowmobiling, four-wheeling, boating, and hunting, as well as helping his sons on the grain farm.
